Reduced tariffs for 90 MW of solar power approved in Kerala

The Kerala State Electricity State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) has granted approval to the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) to buy 90 MW of solar electricity from NTPC for a period of 25 years at a discounted price of Rs 2.77/kWh. The Commission asked KSEB to finalise the power purchase agreement (PPA) quickly. NTPC had petitioned KSEB to sign the final PPA for 90 MW of solar electricity at Rs 2.97/kWh, which was eventually decreased to Rs 2.77/kWh after the two parties came to an agreement.

In April 2022, Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) feeder level solarisation programme, KSEBL invited bids for the appointment of engineering, procurement, and construction contractors to develop 11 MW of ground-mounted, grid-connected solar power projects at various locations in Kerala. The total project cost is approximately Rs 500 million.
