NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) and National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on renewable energy and green ammonia. The collaboration seeks to work upon finding opportunities for supplying 90 MW renewable energy (RE) round the clock in a phased manner. The first phase would constitute 30 MW RE and second phase would constitute 60 MW RE. Also, 50 TPD green ammonia synthesis for captive use will be deployed for producing NFL industrial products.
This is an innovative initiative by two leading Central Public Sector Enterprises that aims to support the nation’s commitment to meet renewable energy targets and mitigate greenhouse emissions. This comes in lieu of NTPC announcing its green hydrogen initiatives and plans to construct the country’s first pilot project for synthesising green methanol and establishing green hydrogen filling stations.
In March 2022, NTPC REL requested bids for land acquisition and an extra high voltage transmission system package. The project aims for developing 500 MW of state transmission utility connected solar projects in Rajasthan.
