Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has called for bids to establish a 5 MW electrolyser and associated system. This entire system is to be used for the production of green hydrogen and blending of hydrogen with natural gas in the city gas distribution network. The bid submission deadline is July 6, 2022 and bids will be opened on the same day. The bidders must be reputed water electrolyser companies or companies and they should have experience in hydrogen blending with natural gas. They can also be engineering companies associated with water electrolyser technology.
This green hydrogen will be blended with natural gas in the existing steel pipeline network. BPCL plans to blend green hydrogen with natural gas in Ahmednagar and Aurangabad city gas distribution networks. The pilot project on hydrogen blending with natural gas has been set up to analyse the technical and commercial implications of blending and substituting natural gas with green hydrogen.
BPCL will provide land for installing the system near its network and the unit should be fully automatic. It must also comply with applicable hydrogen generation unit standards.
