GUVNL issues RfS to purchase power from 500 MW renewable projects with ESS

Under Phase XV, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has issued a request for selection (RfS) to developers for power from 500 MW of renewable energy projects with a guaranteed peak power supply and an energy storage system (ESS). The bid submission deadline is July 30, 2022. 

As per the tender guidelines, a project must include a minimum of two components under this RfS: one for energy storage and another for renewable energy generation, which can be either solar, wind, or a solar-wind hybrid project. The capacity of the energy storage component should be half that of the renewable energy components. In addition, bidders must pay Rs 25,000 for the RfS document and Rs 300,000 for the non-refundable bid processing fee. They must put down an earnest money deposit of Rs 1 million per MW of quoted capacity. Within 30 days of receiving the letter of intent, the winning bidders must submit a performance bank guarantee of Rs 2.5 million per MW of quoted capacity. GUVNL will enter into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the project developers for 25 years.

Earlier this month, a GUVNL auction to develop 500 MW of solar projects under Phase XIV with a greenshoe option of up to 500 MW of additional capacity was won by Aditya Birla (ABREL SPV 2), Hinduja Renewables Energy, and SJVN (Tranche-XIV).
