Rajasthan Government approves the EV policy

The Rajasthan government has approved the Rajasthan Electric Vehicle Policy (REVP), which had been delayed for almost a year. The EV policy’s primary goal is to encourage the use of electric vehicles throughout the state. The Rajasthan Transport Department released a notification in July 2021 stating that electric vehicle purchasers will be reimbursed the State Goods and Service Tax (SGST) price in addition to receiving a one-time grant from the government.

According to the notification, the state will provide EV buyers a lump-sum payment based on the battery capacity of their electric vehicles. Only purchases made between April 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022, and registered until March 20, 2022, were eligible for the incentive. The electric vehicle purchase should have taken place solely in Rajasthan. Reportedly, the grant transfer would be handled by the District Transport Officer.

The Rajasthan government has now granted an additional Rs 400 million in budgetary support for SGST refunds to eligible recipients. According to a statement released by the Rajasthan government, the Chief Minister has approved the new EV Policy, which would assist the state to minimise pollution caused by fossil fuel-powered vehicles.
