Hyundai Motor has partnered with Tata Power to develop a platform of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and increase EV adoption in India. According to the company’s statement, 60 kW DC charging stations will be installed at 34 Hyundai EV dealerships in 29 cities. The objective is to service all types of EVs using the Hyundai and Tata Power EZ Charge Mobile App, which should allow EV drivers to navigate, locate, and pay for charging stations; access live status; and pre-book charging stations.
Hyundai Motor stated that it has a huge network of 34 EV dealers spread across 29 cities. They have AC 7.2 kW chargers installed. The DC 60 kW charger is expected to take substantially less time to charge an EV than the AC 7.2 kW charger. Hyundai EV owners will receive a special tariff and end-to-end home charging solutions. The services provided will range from supply to installation. Hyundai Motor will participate through its dealerships, space, and administrative approvals, while Tata Power will manage the charging stations’ operation and maintenance.
In April 2022, Tata Power collaborated with the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), Maharashtra, to install up to 5,000 electric vehicle charging points in Mumbai. The charging stations will come up in the properties or residences of the developers who are members of NAREDCO. Under the agreement, Tata Power will provide an all-inclusive charging solution for EVs, which will include charger installation, maintenance, and upgradation of the chargers as and when needed.
