REMC floats a tender for 50 MW of solar projects in UP and Madhya Pradesh

Railway Energy Management Company (REMC) Limited, a joint venture between Indian Railways and RITES Limited, has issued a request for proposals for the installation of 50 MW of ground-mounted solar projects near traction substations (TSS) with 25 kV connectivity in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The bid submission deadline is June 28, 2022.

As a performance bank guarantee, the winning bidder must provide a payment equal to Rs 1.086 million per MW per package.   The total capacity of the facility will be commissioned 18 months after the power purchase agreement (PPA) is signed. The solar project developer will be responsible for setting up connectivity with the railway traction system’s transmission infrastructure. The project developer is also responsible for maintaining the transmission infrastructure up to the point of connecting. At the time of submitting the response to the request for selection, the bidder should declare the annual capacity utilisation factor (CUF) of the projects (RfS). Within the first year of commercial operation, the developer will be able to amend the plan once.

In April 2022, Sembcorp (Green Infra Wind Energy) won REMCL’s auction for 50 MW of wind power. This capacity was awarded to Sembcorp following a tariff-based bidding process to meet the energy needs of railways for traction in the state of Maharashtra. Sembcorp was awarded the entire 50 MW capacity with a tariff of Rs 3.11 per kWh. Tunga Renewable Energy quoted a Rs 3.38 per kWh tariff, while Adani Renewable Energy quoted a tariff of Rs 3.36 per kWh. Azure Power India and TEQ Green Power IX were two other companies that participated in the auction.
