L&T to collaborate with IIT Bombay for green hydrogen technology development

Larsen & Toubro (L&T), an Indian multinational engaged in EPC projects has signed an agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, the country’s premier technology and research institution, to collaborate on green hydrogen value chain research and development. Both institutions have joined forces to contribute to the development of India’s green hydrogen industry and to the development of next-generation technology in this emerging field. This partnership will be supported by L&T’s engineering expertise, product scale-up and commercialization expertise, and IIT Bombay’s cutting-edge research in hydrogen technologies.

In January 2022, L&T signed a MoU with HydrogenPro AS, a company based in Norway, for a joint venture to tap the growing green hydrogen market. Under this agreement, L&T and HydrogenPro would collaborate to establish a joint venture in India to manufacture gigawatt-scale alkaline water electrolysers based on HydrogenPro technology for the Indian market and other select regions.
