Azure Power sets up a 300 MW ISTS-connected solar plant in Rajasthan

Azure Power has announced the completion of a 300 MW solar power plant (Rajasthan 8). The said project is connected to the inter-state transmission system (ISTS), and was allotted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The plant is located in Bhadla, Rajasthan, and the power generated is supplied to SECI at a rate of Rs 2.58 per kWh for a period of 25 years. Azure Power has now operationalized 2,683 MWs of renewable energy assets in India as a result of this latest project commissioning.

Earlier this month, SECI issued a request for proposals for the design, engineering, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of a 5 MW grid-connected saffron-based agro solar power plant in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pulwama area. The winning bidder would also be responsible for the project’s operations and maintenance for ten years. The saffron-based agro solar project is a unique initiative by SECI in which the solar project’s land will also be utilised to grow saffron.

In February 2022, Azure Power announced the successful refinancing of its existing project finance facility of Rs 23.50 billion, which was used to build the company’s largest project of 600 MW. This solar project is connected to the ISTS network and has been implemented by Azure Power Forty-Three Private Limited, a special purpose vehicle. The project is in Bikaner, Rajasthan and the power generated by the plant is supplied to SECI at a rate of Rs 2.53 per kWh for a period of 25 years under a power purchase agreement.
