JSW Energy has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC) for its 240 MW Kutehr hydro project in Himachal Pradesh. The power supply agreement will be valid for 35 years.
At a levelized tariff of Rs 4.50 per kWh, the PPA was signed. However, the company did not indicate when the PPA would go into effect. According to the reports, the project is on track to be finished by September 2024, with 65 per cent of the tunnelling work completed by February 2022. TheHi project is set to be commissioned by September 2024. The power will be purchased by the Haryana Power Purchase Centre on behalf of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN).
JSW Energy’s overall green business capacity is 3.8 GW, including 2.5 GW of projects in the pipeline, while its total hydro assets are 1.6 GW, including 240 MW of projects in the pipeline (Kutehr). The company has now signed PPAs for the entire 2.5 GW of under-construction renewable projects, and the 225 MW solar facility (under group captive) is nearing completion and will be commissioned shortly.
