Ayana, Fortum win 300 MW each in SECI’s 1.2 GW solar auction (Tranch X)

The winners of the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) auction for 1,200 MW interstate transmission system connected (ISTS) -connected solar power projects (Tranche X) in Karnataka are Project Eight Renewable Power Private Limited (Ayana Renewable Power) and Solar One Energy Private Limited (Fortum). Ayana was awarded 300 MW of solar power at Rs 2.35 per kWh. Fortum obtained the remaining capacity of 300 MW for the Gadag substation for Rs 2.36 per kWh.

Prior to this, Ayana Renewable Power and Fortum were declared winners in SECI’s auction for 1,200 MW ISTS-connected solar power projects (TrancheX) in Karnataka. The auction was conducted for 600 MW of solar capacity. Ayana was awarded a capacity of 300 MW at a tariff of Rs 2.36 per kWh. Out of the quoted 400 MW, Fortum was able to win 300 MW of capacity at a tariff of Rs 2.37 per kWh.

In July 2021, for this tender, SECI had mentioned that identifying land, installations, and ownership of the project, obtaining connectivity, long-term access, and necessary approvals and interconnection with the ISTS network for supply of power to SECI would be the responsibility of the solar developer. The project should be commissioned within 18 months from the effective date of the power purchase agreement.
