BMC to set up hybrid power station at Middle Vaitarna Dam

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Vaitarna Solar Hydro Power Genco Private Limited, a joint venture of Mahalaxmi Konal Urja Private Limited and Shapoorji Pallonji have signed a MoU on power generation and purchase from the proposed hybrid solar power plant at Balasaheb Thackeray Middle Vaitarna Dam in Maharashtra.  In November 2020, a tender for the floating plant was announced. After receiving the award, 31 months will be given to complete the project. The project will generate 100 MW of power. The hydroelectric power plant, which has been in the works for a long time, will have a capacity of 20 MW, while the floating solar photovoltaic power plant will have an output of up to 80 MW.

Earlier this month, Central Electronics Limited (CEL),  floated a tender for the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of decentralised solar systems ranging from 2 MW to 10 MW with a accumulative capacity of 25 MW at various substations in Maharashtra. The bids for the projects could be submitted in two lots: Lot-A (14 MW) and Lot-F (11 MW). Washim, Buldhana, and Sangli are among the districts where these projects’ substations are located.
