Ohmium International, IITMRP partner on R&D of PEM electrolysers

Ohmium International, a US-based clean energy start-up, has partnered with IIT Madras Research Park (IITMRP) on the performance and cost improvements in its polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolysers. The research and development partnership between Ohmium and IITMRP will accelerate the implementation of PEM technology enhancements into production at Ohmium’s electrolyser giga-factory in Bengaluru.

As per the company’s statement, the partnership will enable Ohmium to rapidly translate technology advances in performance and cost reduction into actual production at its Bengaluru giga-factory. Green hydrogen can be used in cement and steel plants and for the manufacturing of green ammonia.

Earlier this month, Hero Future Energies (HFE), a leading developer of solar, wind, and hybrid projects, and Ohmium International announced a strategic collaboration to develop and build 1,000 MW of green hydrogen production facilities in India, the UK, and Europe. Ohmium would also be responsible for the design, construction, operations and maintenance of the hydrogen production facilities. HFE would be the build, operate, and own partner and will generate green energy to power the manufacturing facilities and assume overall asset ownership.
