Hydro power projects worth over Rs 110 billion launched in Himachal Pradesh

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, presided over the second ground breaking ceremony of the Himachal Pradesh Global Investors’ Meet in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh on December 27, 2021. He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of hydropower projects worth over Rs 110 billion. Some of the hydropower projects are the Renukaji Dam project, Luhri Stage 1 Hydro Power Project and Dhaulasidh Hydro Power Project. He also inaugurated the Sawra-Kuddu Hydro Power Project.

He remarked in his address that ‘ease of living’ of the people of the country is one of the foremost priorities and electricity plays a huge role in this. These hydro-power projects reflect India’s commitment to eco-friendly development.

The Luhri Stage- I hydro power project will have a capacity of 210 MW. Being constructed on river Satluj, it is located near Nirath Village in Shimla and Kullu. The total project cost is Rs 18.11 billion and the tariff is Rs 4.06/kWh. Similarly, the Dhaulasidh project will have a capacity of 66 MW and will be built on the river Beas. It will be located in Dhaulasidh in Hamirpur. Built at a cost of Rs 6.88 billion, the tariff for the project will be 4.46/kWh.
