WBPDCL invites bids for 22.5 MW of floating solar projects at thermal power plants

The West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL) has issued a request for proposals for the installation of 22.5 MW of grid-connected floating solar projects at the Bakreshwar, Santhaldih, and Sagardidhi thermal power plants. A floating solar project with a capacity of 10 MW will be built in Bakreshwar, while 7.5 MW and 5 MW will be built at Santhaldih and Sagardidhi, respectively.

The scope of work comprises the design, engineering, manufacture, procurement, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of these floating solar projects on different ponds at these thermal power stations. At Bakreshwar and Santhaldih, the winning bidders must commission the projects within 12 months of receiving the letter of award, and at Sagardidhi, within 10 months. The winning bidders must provide full operation and maintenance services for five years after commissioning these projects. The bid submission deadline is January 24, 2021.

As per the tender guidelines, to be eligible to participate in the competitive bidding process, bidders must have installed and commissioned at least one 10 MW rooftop, ground-mount, or floating solar project at a single location in the last 7 years. They must also have installed or commissioned two solar projects with a capacity of 5 MW or more. They must also have experience operating and maintaining at least one 10 MW solar project or two 5 MW solar projects. The projects must be based in India and have been operating for at least a year as of the bid deadline.
