MSEDCL floats tenders for  642 MW of Wind Power Projects in Maharashtra

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) has floated separate tenders to procure 342 MW of energy from grid-connected intrastate wind projects and 300 MW from interstate and intrastate wind projects.

In the 342 MW wind power procurement, the projects will be selected through e-bidding followed by an e-reverse auction process. As per the tender guidelines, the bidding procedure is open to intrastate projects that supply power to MSEDCL under an existing electricity purchase agreement (EPA) that has expired or will expire on or before March 31, 2022. The ceiling tariff per kWh has been fixed at Rs 2.65. The winning bidders will sign a 12-year PPA with MSEDCL. As a result of the e-bidding and e-reverse auction, the tariff due to winning bidders would remain the same for the next 12 years. The bid submission deadline is December 16, 2021.

The selection of projects for the 300 MW wind power procurement will be technology agnostic. The tender is open to new wind energy projects. The selected bidder will sign a 25-year PPA with MSEDCL. As established via the e-bidding and e-reverse auction processes, the tariff payable to successful bidders must be valid for 25 years. The bid submission deadline is December 20, 2021.

In November 2021, MSEDCL floated a tender to procure 1,250 MW of solar power from projects developed in various districts of Maharashtra. Individual capacity per project should be a minimum of 2 MW and a maximum of 10 MW. Within 12 months of receiving the letter of award, the project must be commissioned. The ceiling tariff for the tender has been set at Rs 3.10 per kWh.
