MG Motors, CleanMax partners to adopt wind-solar hybrid energy

MG Motor India has partnered with CleanMax to become the first passenger car manufacturer to use hybrid wind-solar energy. Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions (CleanMax) will provide 4.85 MW of wind-solar hybrid power to MG Motor’s Halol manufacturing facility as part of the agreement.

With this development, MG will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by almost 2 lakh MT over the next 15 years, which is equivalent to growing more than 1.3 million trees. MG Motor India has been at the forefront of promoting EV adoption in India. In addition, MG Motor India’s partnership with CleanMax is another step toward constructing a clean manufacturing ecosystem, and they hope to strengthen their role in fostering a sustainable environment while cutting MG Motor’s energy expenses.

CleanMax is the first renewable energy company to build a wind-solar hybrid power park in Gujarat and sell clean energy to individuals and businesses. By 2022, it intends to expand to 150 MW. In February 2022, MG’s Halol complex will begin collecting power from CleanMax’s hybrid park in Rajkot, and will do so for the next 15 years. In August 2021, Augment Infrastructure, a US based investment firm acquired a majority stake in CleanMax, a rooftop solar developer in India, for an equity investment of $222.23 million.
