Tata Motors signs a MoU with BluSmart Mobility

Tata Motors has signed an MoU with BluSmart Mobility, a ride-hailing mobility service, for expanding their all-electric fleet multi-fold across Delhi NCR. Tata will supply 3,500 XPRES T EVs as part of the deal. BluSmart Mobility claims to have completed more than 700,000 rides on electric vehicles, spanning over 22 million clean kilometres, thanks to more than 250,000 app downloads.

As per the company’s statement, the XPRES-T EV has an appropriate battery size and a captive fast charging solution, ensuring an outstandingly cheap cost of ownership while also ensuring safety and passenger comfort, making it a comprehensive and appealing option for fleet owners and operators. We just passed a significant milestone of 10,000 electric vehicles on the road, which demonstrates how strongly our revolutionary electric vehicles are connecting with customers. This order will help us move closer to our goal of making electric vehicles mainstream.

Earlier this month, BluSmart received over $25 million in Series A funding led by BP Ventures. The funding was received from Mayfield India Fund, 9Unicorns and Survam Partners along with existing investors. According to a company statement, the fresh capital will be used to expand the company’s fleet of electric vehicles and charging stations from its home city of Delhi to five additional Indian cities over the next two years. Further, the company claims that its business is rapidly expanding in Delhi NCR, which accounts for 20 per cent of India’s mobility market, and that it has already saved over 1,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide with over 650,000 passenger trips completed to date.
