Green Infra Wind Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, has been formally awarded a 180 MW wind power project in the 11th nationwide wind power auction. Green Infra Wind Energy Limited has obtained the project’s letter of award from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Karnataka is the proposed location for the project. The project’s power output will be sold to SECI under a 25-year long-term power purchase agreement after it is completed.
Sembcorp finished commissioning 800 MW of wind projects from the first three SECI bids in 2020. Sembcorp now has more than 2.3 GW of installed and under-construction renewable energy assets in India after winning the 180 MW wind power project. Sembcorp Industries, Sembcorp India’s Singapore parent company, now has a renewables portfolio of more than 3.5 GW in operation or under development spanning Singapore, China, India, Vietnam, and the UK.
In January 2021, Sembcorp Energy India Limited (SEIL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, won a bid for a 400 MW solar power project in Rajasthan. The project will be connected to the state’s transmission utility Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited. The project’s entire output will be sold to SECI under a 25-year long-term power purchase agreement.
