Technique Solaire acquires 34 MW of ground-mounted solar in Uttar Pradesh

France-based solar producer Technique Solaire has bought a 34 MW ground-mounted solar project in Uttar Pradesh, India from the Jakson Group and an individual businessman. Technique Solaire currently has 68 MW of operational solar power in India as a result of this acquisition. The solar installation generates 49,500 MWh of green energy per year, enough to power 78,383 people in the area. Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation has a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the project, which was completed in 2017.

The acquisition represents the company’s first foray into overseas expansion. By the end of 2024, Technique Solaire hopes to have a 1 GW operational solar capacity. More operating solar projects in France and around the world are expected to be acquired by the company.

In August 2021, JLTM Energy, the Indian subsidiary of Technique Solaire, signed a corporate power purchase agreement with Alstom to build a 300 kW rooftop solar system at a factory in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Under the 15-year agreement, the project proposed an electricity price lower than the government tariff for the captive project. The project is slated to be commissioned by the end of 2021.
