Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Limited (REIL) has invited bids to procure 5,000 polycrystalline solar modules of 330 W and 335 W each. The modules must be made from 72 solar cells. As per the tender guidelines, bidders must provide a warranty against manufacturing defects for five years and six months from the date of supply. After ten years, the module degradation should be no less than 90 per cent, and after 25 years, it should be no less than 80 per cent.
In addition, to be eligible for the bidding process, bidders must have a minimum of a 20 MW annual module manufacturing facility. They should have supplied over 3 MW of solar modules in the last year. The type of solar cells used in the modules must be specified by bidders. According to the tender documents, REIL has earmarked 20 per cent of the tender quantity for micro and small enterprise (MSE) suppliers. In September 2021, REIL invited bids for the supply of 200,000 monocrystalline or multicrystalline silicon solar cells with a power output of 4.57 W. As per the tender guidelines, solar cells must be free of cracks, cuts, holes, edge chipping, missing gridlines, smudges, patches, marks, spots, mechanical damage, or colour and pattern mismatches. According to the tender documents, 25 per cent of the tendered quantity has been earmarked for MSEs.
