NHPC floats an EPC tender for 1 GW of grid connected solar projects

NHPC Limited has invited bids for an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) tender for up to   1,000 MW of grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. Under the Tranche-III of Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme Phase-II, the tender comprises a transmission line to evacuate power to the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) substation. The winning bidder will be responsible for operations and maintenance (O&M) of the project for 10 years. The project must be finished within 15 months of the award notification being issued. The bid submission deadline is November 9, 2021.

The minimum permissible capacity for any bidder is 100 MW. As per the tender guidelines, to be eligible for the process, the bidder must be a developer or have designed, supplied, erected, or supervised erection, and commissioned or supervised commissioning of solar PV-based grid-connected power projects with a cumulative installed capacity of 40 MW or higher. At least one of the projects must be 10 MW. As of the last day of the month before the bid submission date, the bidder must have successful experience in O&M of a minimum of 10 MW of solar power projects for at least six months in the previous five years.

In September 2021, NHPC Limited floated an EPC tender for a 45 MW grid-connected solar power plant in Jalaun district, Uttar Pradesh. According to the tender guidelines, the successful bidder will also be responsible for the O&M of the project for a period of 5 years. The project must be completed within 12 months from the issuance of the notification award. The bid submission deadline is October 22, 2021.
