REIL floats tender for 200,000 solar cells

The Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Limited (REIL) has invited bids for supply of 200,000 monocrystalline or multicrystalline silicon solar cells with a power output of 4.57 W. The bid submission deadline is September 27, 2021. As per the tender guidelines, solar cells must be free of cracks, cuts, holes, edge chipping, missing gridlines, smudges, patches, marks, spots, mechanical damage, or color and pattern mismatches.

In addition, the cells must be vacuum packed in lots of 100 in an export-worthy manner to avoid damage during transit. The cells must also be secured tightly in shock-proof thermocol boxes. The winning bidder must supply cells in a power band of 0.05W. According to the tender documents, 25 per cent of the tendered quantity has been earmarked for micro and small enterprises (MSEs). A total of 20 per cent of the 25 per cent has been set aside for procurement from MSEs owned by Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe entrepreneurs.

Earlier this month, REIL had also floated a contract for manufacturing of 7,000 monocrystalline or mono passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) solar modules. Under this tender, the modules must have a minimum output of 380 W. As per the tender guidelines, to be eligible, the winning bidder will have to submit 5 per cent of the contract value as the performance bank guarantee. Also, the bids must be submitted by Indian module manufacturers or their authorised dealers and distributors. The bids must be on the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).
