The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) has invited bids for empanelling agencies to install 50 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects on residential building across West Bengal. The successful bidder will also be responsible for the operations and maintenance of the project for one year. The bid submission deadline is September 27, 2021.
According to the tender document, the bid amount of 50 MW has been divided in two categories Category A (35 MW) and Category B (15 MW). Under Category A, the bidder must have installed grid-connected rooftop solar projects of at least 200 kW in the residential sector prior to the date of bid submission. Under Category B, a bidder should have installed and commissioned grid-connected system of at least 1 MW in residential, industrial or government rooftop solar sectors. The solar modules and cells used in the project must be manufactured in India.
In January 2021, the West Bengal Electricity Regulatory Commission made amendments to the Cogeneration and Electricity Generation from Renewable Sources Regulations 2013. Among the amendments was the mandate of a gross metering facility for rooftop solar systems above 5 kW capacity.
