Tariff of Rs 2.14 per kWh discovered at auction for RUMSL’s 500 MW Neemuch solar project

Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL) auction for 500 MW capacityat the Neemuch Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh saw TP Saurya, a Tata Power subsidiary, and AlJomaih Energy and Water Company emerge as winners. TP Saurya was awarded a capacity of 170 MW at a quotted tariff of Rs 2.14 per kWh, as well as a capacity of 160 MW at a rate of Rs 2.149 per kWh. Meanwhile, Aljomaih Energy and Water Company won 170 MW at a Rs 2.15 per KWh.

This is part of three large solar parks being developed in Madhya Pradesh/ RUMSL initially issued tenders for the three solar parks in the state in 2018. However, due to central and state elections, the tenders were delayed. In 2020, RUMSL reissued the tender and split the capacity under three new first tender was for developing 450 MW of grid-connected solar projects at Shajapur Solar Park. The second tender was for 550 MW of solar projects at the Agar Solar Park, and the third tender was for 500 MW of solar projects at the Neemuch Solar Park. The tender for 500 MW of solar projects to be developed at the Neemuch Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh was oversubscribed by 7 GW.

 

Solar projects have taken the centre stage in the sunny state of Madhya Pradesh. In terms of capacity, a large portion of the solar power development taking place in the state is through large-scale solar parks. Among the solar parks approved for 2021, maximum solar parks have been approved for Madhya Pradesh among Indian states.
