Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners invests$100 millionto expand India’s renewable energy portfolio

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), a renewable energy focused fund manager, has committed a $100 million investment with Amp Energy India Private Limited to boost its renewable energy portfolio in India. The agreement enables joint equity investments in excess of$200 million in renewable energy projects in India, with the potential for future expansion. The agreement with Amp Energy was signed by CIP’s Copenhagen Infrastructure New Markets Fund I (CINMF).

Amp India and CI NMF aim to achieve an initial target of 1.7 GW portfolio of renewable energy projects.The portfolio comprises 900 MW in late-stage solar PV and hybrid wind/solar PV projects and an additional 800 MWof projects in earlier stages of development. The projects will provide power to both utility, and commercial and industrial customers. This is CI NMF’s first venture into the Indian renewable energy market and its largest commitment since establishment in 2019.Being one of the world’s most dynamic and competitive renewable energy markets, India is a key focus for CI NMF.

 

Amp Energy India is part of Amp Energy, a global energy transition platform headquartered in Toronto. Amp India is actively diversifying its portfolio to include solar, wind and hybrid projects. The collaboration with CI NMF is in line with Amp India’s vision to achieve a portfolio size of 5GW in renewable energy projects in India.
