Powergrid floats tender for Bhadla Substation Package for Rajasthan’s Solar Energy Zones

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) has floated a tender for a substation package for the expansion of the 765/400/220 kV Bhadla-II pooling substation. This is part of the transmission system upgrading programme to evacuate electricity from 8.1 GW of solar projects (Phase II) from the solar energy zones in Rajasthan.

The bid submission deadline is August 23, 2021. The pre-bid meeting will take place on August 9, 2021. The scope of service includes design, engineering, manufacture, testing, supplying, including transport and insurance, storage, erection testing, and commissioning. According to the tender guidelines, all entities, including corporations and government-owned enterprises, that are registered and incorporated in India under the Companies Act, 1956, are invited to submit bids. Furthermore, during the previous seven years, the bidder should have commissioned at least two circuit breaker bays of 220 kV or higher voltage level in one substation or switchyard under a single contract.

Moreover, the contractor must submit performance security for an amount equivalent to 10 per cent of the contract price within 28 days of notice of the award, with a validity term of up to 90 days after the defect liability period has expired.

Also, to be eligible for the bidding process, all of the equipment to be provided and installed, as well as the services to be performed under the contract, must be from any country other than those against whom the Indian government has put a ban on doing business.
