RenewSys sets up a 2 GW module manufacturing facility inMaharashtra

Module manufacturer RenewSys has set up a state-of-the-art module manufacturing facility for2 GW of solar modules. The unit is inPatalganga in the state of Maharashtra. The proximity to Mumbai and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust is expected to help the company in strengthening its customer service capabilities by reducing the delivery time lines. Part of the Enpee Group,RenewSys is an integrated manufacturer of solar PV modules and its key components including encapsulants, backsheets, and solar PV cells.

The company’s Hyderabad solar manufacturing facility produces 5BB and 6BB cell solar modules, bifacial modules, glass- to -transparent backsheetmodule, the high efficiency – DESERV Galactic,DESERV Extreme, and DESERVGalactic Ultra modules as well as specially designed flexible, lightweightmodules. The company also has an Intertek Certified Satellite Testing Laboratory at Hyderabadwhere solar modules can be tested under various conditions like damp heat, temperature cycles, UVexposure variances etc.Similarly, the company’s Bangalore facility has an exclusive encapsulant and backsheet testing lab that is NABLaccredited with world-class European machinery. This unit has produced and supplied nearly 12 GW of encapsulant and backsheet worldwide.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued guidelines for implementation of Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme ‘National Programme on High Efficiency Solar PV Modules’ for achieving manufacturing capacity of GW-scale. Through this scheme the MNRE aims to promote manufacturing of high efficiency solar PV modules in India and thus reduce import dependence in the area of renewable energy. The PLI scheme will be implemented by MNRE through Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) as the implementing agency.Beneficiaries of the PLI scheme will be selected through a transparent bidding process.
