The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has issued a notice inviting a first-of-its-kind tender for 2,000 MWh of standalone energy storage systems. According to the notice, the energy storage systems will be set up on a build-own-operate basis. Furthermore, SECI will sign agreements with the successful bidders for a period of 25 years. The bidders will be selected based on a request for selection. Only a notice has been issued; the tender document is expected to be floated in August 2021.
In July 2021, SECI released a request for selection inviting bids for the development of 1,200 MW of inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected solar projects in Karnataka under ISTS tranche X. The winning developer will sign a power purchase agreement (PPA) with SECI.The PPAs shall be valid for a period of 25 years from the scheduled commissioning date of the projects.
In May 2021, SECI floated a tender for setting up of 1.2 GW of wind power projects. These would be set up undertranche-XI of the ISTS-connected projects in India. The discoms of Madhya Pradesh will purchase the power procured by SECI, through the Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited. The projects will have to be commissioned within 18 months of signing of the PPA.
