Rayzon Solar to build 1.2 GW of mono PERC module capacity in India

 

Rayzon Solar, located in Gujarat, has announced the construction of a new line to increase its module production capacity to 1.5 GW. The company will expand its existing 300 MW Gujarat factory with a 1.2 GW mono PERC (passivated emitter and rear contact) line. The capacity expansions are expected to be completed by the end of December.

Rayzon Solar, founded in 2017, is a solar photovoltaic module manufacturer with a 300 MW plant. The company began with a small 40 MW line and has grown significantly since then to its current size of 300 MW. Rayzon Solar’s plant has an automated stringer and laminator. It can make 335 Wp polycrystalline panels and 400 Wp monocrystalline modules.

The new 1.2 GW production line will be capable of producing mono PERC solar panels with wafer diameters ranging from 220 mm to 220 mm. It will be able to produce 600 Wp panels with an efficiency rating of 21.4 percent. The decision to add 1.2GW capacity this year is a significant step up in terms of existing base. With a strong tariff protection in place beginning in April of next year, many solar panel producers aim to have expanded to meet their domestic demand by then. According to JMK’s quarterly solar reports, 2020 was the first year in which shipments of high-efficiency monocrystalline PERC modules in India surpassed those of multicrystalline modules
