Avaada Energy and O2 Power win RUML’s 550 MW solar auction

Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL) has announced the winners of its auction for 550 MW of solar projects to be developed at the Agar Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh. In this solar park, the capacity has been split in two units: Unit 1 Agar and Unit 2 Susner comprising 200 MW and 350 MW respectively.The winners are Avaada Energy (200 MW) and O2 Power (350 MW). The two companies quoted a tariff of Rs2.459 per kWh and Rs2.444 per kWh.

In June 2021, RUMSL’s tender for 450 MW of solar projects at the Shajapur Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh was oversubscribed by 5.8 GW.The total capacity of 450 MW comprises solar projects of 220 MW, 125 MW, and 105 MW capacity at the solar park. 15 bidders (13 domestic and two foreign)were shortlisted for the tender. These include ACME Solar Holdings, Aljomaih Energy and Water Company, Avaada Energy, Ayana Renewable Power, Azure Power, Beempow Energy, Luceo Solar, NHDC, NTPC Renewables, ReNew Solar Power, SJVN, SprngOjas, Talettutayi Solar Projects, Torrent Power, and TP (Tata Power) Saurya.

RUMSLinitially tendered 1,500 MW of grid-connected solar projects to be developed across the three solar parks in the state in 2018. However, due to central and state elections, the tenders were delayed. Later in 2020, RUMSL reissued the tender and split the capacity under three new first tender was for developing 450 MW of grid-connected solar projects at Shajapur Solar Park. The second tender was for 550 MW of solar projects at the Agar Solar Park, and the third tender was for 500 MW of solar projects at the Neemuch Solar Park. The entire capacity will be financed by the World Bank.
