SJVN and NIWE sign MoU for renewable energy projects

SJVN Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Institute of Wind energy (NIWE) for the development of solar and wind energy projects. As per the memorandum, the institute will provide ‘technical consultancy services’ for development of sola, wind, wind-solar hybrid as well as wind and solar projects with a battery storage component for SJVN. NIWE will support SJVN to assess the feasibility and techno-commercial aspects of the projects and preparation of detailed project reports, estimates and bid documents covering all relevant aspects from the concept to the commissioning of these projects.

National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) has been established in Chennai in the year 1998, as an autonomous R&D institution by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). SJVN Ltd was incorporated in 1988 as a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh. So far, SJVN has tendered more than 1.2 GW of solar power projects in India and the company has commissioned seven projects totalling 2,016.5 MW of installed capacity as well as 86 km of 400 kV transmission line. SJVN is now working towards a vision of having a portfolio of 25 GW by the year 2040.
