Tata Power offers 100 percent Green Power to Mumbai Customers

~Reaffirms commitment towards Sustainability to Mumbai Customers through 100 percent Green Power~

Mumbai, 7th June 2021: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power utility, today announced that over 37 consumers with a consumption of more than 19 MUs have opted for ‘Green Power’, this includes some of the leading IT firms, Banks and Consumer Business Group situated in Mumbai. In line with its commitment and basis the permission granted by the honourable MERC to provide 100 percent ‘Green Power’ in March’21,Tata Power initiated the process of empowering its customers with sustainable ‘Green’ growth from April’21.

Consumers who wish to receive ‘Green Power’ are paying ‘Green tariff’ as approved by the honourable MERC. These customers have been sent their first ‘Green Bill’ for consumption 100 percent ‘Green Power’ for the past month.

The company endeavors to provide 100 percent Green Power to commercial & industrial organisations as well as residential customers who are committed towards the cause of sustainability and are keen to reduce their carbon footprint. The initiative of the company has received an overwhelming responses from its customers, it has been receiving many queries regarding the new services.

Today, Tata Power has a 31 percent clean energy portfolio and aims to increase its clean energy share by 40-50 percent by 2025. The power major is steadily improving itself on the sustainability front and is progressively improving its environmental, social and governance (ESG) rating (MSCI-BB). It has identified eight focus areas – renewable footprint, carbon emission, resource availability, waste management and bio diversity to make it to the top of the list.
