Tumakuru Smart City issues tender to develop a 20 MW floating solar project

Tumakuru Smart City Limited (TSCL) has invited bids for the development of a 20 MW floating solar power project at the Bugudanahalli Reservoir in the district. Developers would be required to carry out the design, engineering, funding, manufacturer, procurement, factory testing, transportation, erection, and commissioning of the floating solar system at the reservoir. Selected bidders are also required to provide operations and maintenance services for 25 years. Further, they must carry out workor grid connecting equipment and evacuation lines to the nearest substation and provide all necessary electrical and civil work for the smart city initiative. Prospective bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 9.8 million and the last date to submit bids is April 05, 2021.

To be eligible to participate in the competitive bidding process, applicants must have had experience in designing, supplying, and commissioning at least 10 MW of rooftop, ground-mounted, floating, or canal solar power projects in the last five years. Further, the applicants must have had a net worth of at least Rs 100 million as of the end of the last financial year.

The current announcement follows a number of solar developments under the smart city missions in the country. In January 2021, Thanjavur Smart City Limited invited bids from developers to set up a  3 MW solar power project at the Sirajudeen Nagar Sewage Treatment Unit in the city.  In November 2020, Tirunelveli Smart City Limited floated two tenders for the development of 5 MW of solar power in the district.
