Kenya floats tender to develop upto 10 MW of captive solar projects

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company has invited expressions of interest from companies to finance, develop and operate captive solar projects. These solar projects can range between 500 kW and 10 MW, and will be set up on a lease basis. Shortlisted bidders will be issued a detailed request of proposal by Kenya Power. The scope of work includes solar energy resource assessment, studies on and design of grid interconnection, supply, installation, financing, testing, and commissioning of solar projects. Selected bidders will have to operate the project for 20 years. The last date for bid submission was February 10, 2021.
