SJVN invites bids for purchase or lease of 1,250 acres of land for solar projects in Bihar

SJVN has floated a tender for the purchase or lease of 1,250 acres of land for the development of solar capacities in the state of Bihar. The land will be used for solar projects which will be developed under the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA). The tender for the procurement of 250 MW of power from grid-connected solar projects was originally floated by the BREDA in June 2019. Prospective bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 590,000 and the deadline for the submission of bids is February 22, 2021.

The land must be available for purchase or a 28-year lease and the bidders must obtain the required statutory clearance. It must also include chain link fencing around its periphery. The applicants can bid for up to five parcels of land at different locations of at least 250 acres each. Further, the land must be located at least 20 km of aerial distance away from the Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited’s grid substation. The land must also not be located in prohibited areas and must be free from any government restriction.

So far, SJVN has issued solar tenders of at least 1.2 GW. The joint venture between the central government and the government of Himachal Pradesh, in December 2020, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agencyto promote green energy projects in the country. In October 2020, SJVN floated a tender to purchase 1,500 acres of land to set up solar power projects in Rajasthan.  In July 2020, the company invited bids for developing 100 MW of solar power capacity at the Dholera Solar Park in Gujarat.
