Thanjavur Smart City invites bids for developing a 3 MW solar project

Thanjavur Smart City Limited has invited bids from developers to set up a  3 MW solar power project at the Sirajudeen Nagar Sewage Treatment Unit in the city. The work involves the design, engineering, procurement, supply, packing, transportation, site development, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar project. The developers must also provide comprehensive maintenance services for ten years. To be eligible, bidders must have experience in carrying out similar projects with a total capacity of at least 1.5 MW for central or state government, local bodies, or public sector undertakings. In addition to having a positive net worth in the previous year, bidders must also have had a minimum average turnover of at least Rs 100 million in the last three financial years and a minimum turnover of Rs 50 million in their solar division in the last financial year.  Prospective bidders will have to submit a bank solvency certificate of Rs 30 million and an earnest money deposit of Rs 1.5 million. The last date for the submission of bids is February 2, 2021.

The current announcement follows a series of tenders launched by Smart Cities across the country. In November 2020, the Tirunelveli Smart City Limited invited bids under two tenders to install 5 MW of solar projects in the district which included 2 MW of solar projects at the district’s corporation dump yard. In October 2020, the Salem Smart City Mission invited bids for the development of a 2.5 MW grid-interactive ground-mounted solar project in the Chettichavadi area of the district. In September 2020, the Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Smart City Corporation Limited floated a tender for about 2.9 MW of rooftop solar capacity in various locations under the capital expenditure model.
