The Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Limited (REIL) has floated a tender for the supply of 200,000 multi-crystalline solar cells of 4.50W and 4.60W. The 4.50W solar cells must have dimensions of 156×156 ± 1.0mm or 156.75×156.75 ± 1.0 if their capacity is more than 4.50W and the must be four to five busbars in length. The 4.60W solar cells must have dimensions of 156×156 ± 1.0mm or 156.75×156.75 ± 1.0 mm in dimensions if the capacity goes beyond 4.60W and must have a length of five busbars. The supplier will have to provide 100,000 multi-crystalline solar cells of 4.50W and 4.60W each. The cells must be supplied under the domestic content requirement category (DCR). 25 per cent of the tendered quantity is reserved for micro and small enterprises. The deadline for the submission of bids is December 21, 2020.
REIL is a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Rajasthan. Under the DCR category, REIL has floated tenders for the supply of a total of 500,000 solar cells as of December 2020. In September 2020, REIL invited bids for the supply of 600,000 multi-crystalline solar cells of which 300,000 were to be supplied under the DCR category. In October 2020, the company had invited bids under two tenders seeking the supply of 200,000 multi-crystalline and 150,000 multi-crystalline and bifacial solar cells. So far, REIL has also issued tenders for a total of 184.8 MW of rooftop solar projects.
