NLC India invites bids for developing a 10 MWcaptive solar project at its thermal plant

State-owned NLC India Limited (NLCIL), invited bids for the development of a 10 MW grid-connected captive solar power project at Neyveli thermal station. The project will be developed under the engineering, procurement, and, construction model. The developers will be responsible forthe design, engineering, manufacture, supply, installation, and commissioning of the solar capacity. To be eligible, the bidder must have completed similar works in the last seven years. In addition to having a positive net worth, the bidder must have also reported an average annual turnover of at least Rs 60 million in the last three financial years. Further, only Class-I domestic suppliers will be eligible to participate in the bidding process. The bidder can also be a leader of a consortium of a maximum of two firms. The project must be completed with eight months of issue of the letter of award (LoA). Prospective bidders must submit a bid guarantee amount of  Rs 2.1 million. The deadline for the submission of bids is January 11, 2021.

As of December 2020,  NLCILhas floated tenders for about 2.05 GW of large-scale solar projects. In 2019-20, the company commissioned its 709 MW project in Tamil Nadu, it became the first central public service enterprise to have an installed solar project capacity of more than 1 GW. In October 2018, NLCIL had signed a deal with Coal India Limited to develop 3 GW of solar projects.
