GSECL invites bids for 140 MW of solar projects

The Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL) has invited bids for the development of 140 MW of grid-connected solar photovoltaic power projects in selected regions of Gujarat. Under the tender, are projects ranging between 10 MW and 40 MW and will be installed substations of the Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation. Additionally, GSECL will also install a 15 MW capacity at the Gujarat State Fertilisers and Chemicals Company and a 4 MW capacity for the Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilisers and Chemicals Company. Developers will be required to carry out design, engineering, supply, procurement, construction of the projects. They will also be required to carry out comprehensive maintenance for 10 years. The projects in Chattar and Shishang of 20 MW and 25 MW respectively will have to be commissioned within 15 months of the issuance of the notice to proceed. The remaining projects will have to be commissioned within 12 months. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 5.6 million. Bidders are eligible if they have executed similar work of at least 66 per cent of the tendered project capacity anywhere in the world. In addition to having a positive net worth, the bidder must have had a total turnover of at least Rs 40 million in the last three years. The deadline for submission of bids is December 24, 2020.

Gujarat is one of the leading states in solar capacity with about 2.4 GW of installed solar capacity and a little over 3 GW of solar capacity in development. In September 2020, Gujarat issued a request for selection to purchase power from 500 MW of solar projects.
