The Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Limited (TSREDCO) has floated two tenders cumulating to 2.2 MW of ground-mounted solar capacities at two dairies in the state. The first tender is for a capacity of 1 MW at Vijaya Bhavan, Lalapet, Tarnaka, Hyderabad at the Telangana State Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Limited. The second tender is for 1.2 MW capacity to be installed as eight projects of 150 kW each at Vijaya Dairy facilities across the state. Both capacities will be developed under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model. Successful bidders must undertake the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the projects at the specified sites. Additionally, developers must also provide maintenance, and module cleaning services for 25 years. As per the tender document, the project must be completed within four months of awarding of the contract using domestically manufactured solar modules and radio frequency identification (RFID) tag. For both tenders, bidders are eligible if they have installed at least one 200 kW grid-connected solar project at a single site with a net-metering facility in the previous three financial years. Eligible bidders must also submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 900,000, under both tenders. The last date for submission of bids is November 26, 2020.
As of June 2020, Telangana has over 3.5 GW of solar projects in operation and about 204 MW under development. In September 2020, the state had floated about 1.5 GW of solar capacity. Dairies in the country have started expressing interest in the setting up of renewable capacities. In October 2020, Sabar Dairy, in Gujarat invited bids for the development of 2 MW solar projects at two of its chilling centers. In November 2019, Jaipur dairy issued a tender for the installation of a roof-mounted captive solar project at its facility at Jaipur.
