REIL’s issues two tenders for the purchase of multi- crystalline and bifacial solar cells

The Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Limited (REIL) has invited bids under two tenders seeking the supply of 200,000 multi-crystalline and 150,000 multi-crystalline and bifacial solar cells. As per the first tender document, the supply of 100,000 each of 4.5W and 4.6W solar cells are required. Under the second tender, 50,000 each of 5W bifacial solar photovoltaic  cells, 7W monocrystalline passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) cells, and 10W mono PERC cells are required.  Under both tender documents, the cells are to be supplied on a one or two lot basis, in a power band of 0.05W. The information must also be provided concerning the cell type, crystalline structure, resistivity, orientation, thickness, and wattage of the cells. REIL has also stated that there would be a preference for domestic manufacturers. The last date for the submission of bids for the first tender of 200,000 cells is November 3, 2020 and the deadline for the second tender of 150,000 cells is November 11, 2020.

The Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Limited is a joint venture between the Government of India and the Rajasthan Government.  REIL has floated a total of 45 tenders for 5.5 million solar cells, 39,000 solar modules. In October 2020, the company issued a similar tender for the supply of 150,000 monocrystalline and bifacial solar cells. In August 2020, the company had invited bids for the supply of 600,000 multi-crystalline solar cells in lots of 200,000 each. In the same month, REIL had issued a tender for the manufacture and supply of 6,500 polycrystalline solar modules of 330 W which are to be made from 72 silicon solar cells. REIL has also issued tenders for the development of a total rooftop capacity of 184.4 MW. In October 2019, the JV had invited bids to develop 50 MW of small-scale grid-connected solar projects in various states and union territories. These projects were to be set up under the RESCO model on the rooftops of government buildings.
