NHPC Limited has floated an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) tender for 65 MW of solar projects along with a 132 kV power evacuation facility at Parasan village in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh. This includes the design, engineering, civil, electrical, and mechanical work, manufacturing, supply, packing, installation, commissioning, and testing of the project. Selected bidders must also provide comprehensive operations and maintenance services for ten years from the commissioning date of the project. Eligibility criteria require applicants to have executed similar work in the past with a cumulative installed capacity of 40 MW or more. Further, at least one of these projects must have been 10 MW or higher with successful operation for six months. The project is also to be commissioned within 12 months of date of awarding of the contract. The last date to submit bids is November 18, 2020.
NHPC limited announced in June 2020 that it would diversify the company’s business by taking up solar projects across the country. In July 2020, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha Limited (GEDCOL) to form a joint venture for developing 500 MW of floating solar projects in the state of Odisha. In August 2020, the NHPC had invited expressions of interests to lease 3,000 acres of land to set up a solar capacity of 600 MW. The company, in October 2020 had floated a tender for the development of 100 MW of solar capacity in Rajasthan. The company currently has 50 MW of solar projects in operation in Tamil Nadu and another 10 MW of floating solar projects across the country.
