The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) floated a tender to procure wind energy from 200 MW of wind projectsset up in Maharashtra(with which energy purchase agreements have expired or will soon be expired). MSEDCL will sign a fresh power purchase agreement with the winning bidder for a period of seven years from the date of signing of the agreement. The tender has a ceiling tariff of Rs 2.52 per kWh. Wind power projects having an individual size of at least 0.50 MW at one site can participate in this tender. Further, projects which are currently supplying power to MSEDCL under existing agreements, which have either already expired or would expire on or before December 31, 2020, are eligible to participate in the bidding process.The last date for the submission of bids is October 6, 2020.
Earlier in March 2020, MSEDCL’s tender for the long-term procurement of power from 500 MW of intra-state grid-connected solar power projects (Phase V) was undersubscribed. The tender received bids for 350 MW as against the tendered capacity of 500 MW. Avaada Energy and Tata Power bid for 250 MW and 100 MW respectively. MSEDCL had set a ceiling tariff of Rs 2.90 per kWh for this tender. As per the tender guidelines, the minimum bid capacity for projects was 5 MW.
