Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has invited bids from prospective vendors to supply 2.35 million smart electricity meters. These meters will be installed across various states in India. The meters will be installed in 4G, 3G and 2G modes. As per the eligibility criteria, vendors should be manufacturers of smart meters and should have experience in successfully supplying 0.7 million electricity meters to government departments, PSUs, discoms, or private companies during the past three years. All micro and small enterprises (MSEs) will be exempted from the payment of tender fee and earnest money deposit. Of the total quantity, 25 per cent has been earmarked for MSEs while 4 per cent has been set aside for procurement from MSEs owned by scheduled castes and scheduled tribes and 3 per cent for women entrepreneurs. The last date for bid submission is September 15, 2020.
