With Adani winning the contract for the SECI tender to develop solar plants with a cumulative capacity of 8 GW, and module manufacturing for 2 GW, it became the largest solar power developer in terms of project capacity. As per a recent report by Mercom Capital Group, Adani Green is currently the top global solar developer with 2.3 GW of operational projects, 2 GW under construction, and 8 GW of awarded projects making a total capacity of 12.3 GW.Adani has the most capacity awarded and under-construction globally, with a pipeline of 10 GW.By operational capacity in utility-scale solar, the top developer was GCL New Energy with 7.1 GW, followed by Enel Green Power with 4.2 GW. Adani ranks eighth globally on this list.
In June 2020, Adani Green Energy Limited, won the contract to develop solar plants with a cumulative capacity of 8 GW, with module manufacturing for 2 GW. The project will be requiring a total investment of $6 billion. The first instalment of 2 GW is expected to be commissioned by 2022, while the rest is expected to come online by 2025. Further, Adani will also establish a solar cell and module manufacturing capacity of 2 GW by 2022. Adani is to set up the solar manufacturing capacity in Gujarat while the solar projects could be across states.
