Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has decided to collaborate with Tata Power for the supply of solar energy for its hotels in Mumbai. This is in line with its strategy to focus on sustainable and cost-efficient business practices. As per a company statement, IHCL has signed a power purchase agreement for 25 years with TP Kirnali Solar, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power. IHCL hotels in Mumbai, which are The TajMahal Palace, TajLands End, and Taj Wellington Mews, will source around 60 percent of its energy requirements from green sources and as a result reduce nearly 22.9 million kg of carbon dioxide emissions annually. IHCL has increased the share of renewable energy in its energy mix from 7 per cent to 25 per cent over the past four years.
