MNRE announces extension for renewable energy research and development programme

The MNRE has received the sanction from the President of India for the continuation of its Renewable Energy Research and Technology Development Programme till March 31, 2021, or till the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission come into effect, whichever is earlier. The objective of the programme is to promote indigenous technology development and manufacture for the widespread application of renewable energy, in the form of solar thermal systems, solar photovoltaic systems, biogas systems, waste-to-energy systems, wind energy systems, hybrid systems, storage systems, hydrogen and fuel cells, and geothermal energy, and increasing its share in the energy mix of the country.
