Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) is set to collaborate with Tata Power for the supply of solar energy for its Mumbai hotels. This is a part of its strategy to focus on sustainable and cost-efficient business practices. As per a company statement, IHCL has signed a PPA for 25 years of offtake from TP Kirnali Solar, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power Company. IHCL hotels in Mumbai, The Taj Mahal Palace, Taj Lands End and Taj Wellington Mews, will procure around 60 per cent energy from green sources and as a result, will reduce nearly 22.9 million kg of carbon dioxide emissions annually. IHCL has increased the share of renewable energy in its energy mix from 7 per cent to 25 per cent over the past four years.
