Shivamogga Smart City (SSCL) has floated a tender for the development of 25 MW of canal top solar projects. The solar power plants will be installed on the Upper Tanga canal stretches passing through the Shivamogga City in Karnataka. SSCL through a public-private partnership with Karnataka NiravariNigama Limited (KNNL) intends supply solar power to Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (MESCOM). The project will be developed on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis. The scope of work for the winning bidders will include the design, finance, engineering, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance and transfer of the project under and in accordance with the provisions of the draft project development and implementation agreement. For power offtake, the selected developer will enter into a power purchase agreement with MESCOM. The developers must commission the project within 18 months and consequently provide comprehensive operation and maintenance services for the plants for a period of 25 years. The last date for submission of bids is August 10, 2020.
